Gangsters Kill Security Guard, Steal TVs and Alcohol in Homa Bay

Police in Homa Bay are investigating the brutal killing of a security guard by unknown assailants on Tuesday.


The victim, identified as 70-year-old Harrison Apolo Andika, was murdered while guarding a business premises that hosts a pub and outdoor event services.


According to Homa Bay Subcounty Directorate of Criminal Investigations Officer (DCIO) Charles Koilenge, the gangsters breached the premises by damaging a section of the fence. Once inside, they attacked the elderly guard with sharp objects, killing him on the spot.


After the attack, the criminals stole two television sets and several bottles of alcohol. They also consumed alcohol on-site, leaving discarded bottles near the fence.


Andika’s body, found in a pool of blood, was discovered by workers arriving to open the premises the following morning. “We got information that the old man had been killed by unknown assailants,” a resident said.


DCIO Koilenge confirmed that the guard sustained multiple head injuries during the assault. "The body had multiple head injuries which he sustained during the attack,” he stated.


The authorities have initiated an investigation, including analyzing CCTV footage from the premises. However, Koilenge noted that the cameras were found switched off when officers arrived. “When we arrived at the scene, we found the CCTV cameras switched off. But we are working on them to reveal what happened,” he added.


Police are urging the public to assist with information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators. The body has been moved to the Homa Bay Teaching and Referral Hospital Mortuary.
