Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Kipchumba Murkomen has officially declared Monday, 31st March 2025, a public holiday in Kenya to commemorate Eid-ul-Fitr.
The announcement was made through a gazette notice released on Friday.
“It is notified for the general information of the public that, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 (1) of the Public Holidays Act, the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration declares that Monday, the 31st March, 2025, shall be a public holiday to mark Idd-ul-Fitr,” the notice states.
Eid-ul-Fitr, meaning the "Festival of Breaking the Fast," is one of the most important celebrations in the Islamic calendar. It signifies the conclusion of Ramadan, a month dedicated to fasting, prayer, and self-reflection observed by Muslims across the globe.
